Welcome to my blog, where i will be sharing my passion and progress in making the Shetland Resin Map.

My name is Phil and i have lived on Shetland for 21 years. I have been interested in woodworking for about 5 years now. I started making chopping boards and since then found a passion in making the resin maps.

Making a New Map

Its been a busy couple of weeks making the next Shetland Map commission for a customer. I have started to use a different supplier for the resin colour so that has been a learning curve, using the correct amount to make the colour needed.

Eventually got the correct colours and the map is looking really good. Just a few finishing touches and its good to go.

I love the way the grain on the map looks on this particular map.

I have designed a smaller Shetland map. It is fully customizable with text and the colour of the map. These deigns are proving very popular as they are lightweight and easy to ship.

These are made using a new CNC machine I have purchased, however there is still an element of being handmade as the wood needs to be finished and the resin work needed.
